Derrick Childs

Derrick Greenslade Childs (14 January 1918 – 18 March 1987 [1]) was the Anglican Bishop of Monmouth and Archbishop of Wales.

Childs was educated at University College, Cardiff and ordained in 1942. [2] He was a curate in Milford Haven and then Laugharne before becoming Warden of Llandaff House, Penarth. In 1961 he became director of the Church in Wales Publications and in 1965 principal of Trinity College, Carmarthen.[3] In 1972 he was ordained to the episcopate and in 1983 became Primate of the Church in Wales.[4] Childs was a sub-prelate of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. He died shortly after retirement.
